Begin with when support is needed

Care at home can take different forms. A useful starting point is to think about when help is needed, what the person would like support with, and whether the arrangement is intended to be ongoing or temporary.

These descriptions introduce the services you can discuss with Perfect Quality Care. The right arrangement depends on an individual assessment, the support required and availability. You do not need to choose a service before speaking with us.

Domiciliary care: support through visits

Domiciliary care means personal care and everyday support in the person's own home. Enquiries may involve help with washing, dressing, medication prompts, companionship or daily tasks. Visits and tasks need to be discussed and agreed around the person's routine.

For a first conversation, note the parts of the day where support would help and what matters about timing. Ask what can be included in a visit, how the care plan is agreed and what happens if needs change.

Live-in and night care: discuss the arrangement

Live-in and night care enquiries concern support for longer periods at home or during the night. Describe when support is needed and what help is expected, rather than assuming that one service label covers every situation.

Ask the team to explain the proposed hours, breaks, overnight arrangements and cover. A live-in arrangement should not be assumed to mean continuous, uninterrupted support from one person. Suitability and the practical arrangements must be agreed individually.

Respite care: planning a temporary period

Respite care is a short-term care enquiry, for example when a family carer is planning a break. Think about the dates, the usual routine and how information would be handed over so that the person receiving care remains involved.

If plans are flexible, say so. If support is needed urgently, contact the team to discuss it directly; an enquiry does not guarantee immediate cover. Ask what information is needed before an arrangement can be confirmed.

Bring your questions to the first conversation

You may want to compare more than one option. Make a short list of the support needed, preferred times, questions about charges and anything that matters to the person's comfort and independence. Our enquiry preparation checklist can help you organise the details.

Choose your area in the locations directory, then prepare a care enquiry. We will need to check the postcode, care requirements and staffing before confirming availability.
